Curtis E. Huntington Memorial Scholarship 2024-2025
Curtis E. Huntington Memorial Scholarship is here again! The Curtis E. Huntington, FSA, MAAA, FCA, MSPA (1942-2013) Memorial Scholarship (formerly the John Culver Wooddy Scholarship) was established to recognize the remarkably positive impact Huntington had on the actuarial profession.

STEM Stars, a new scholarship program from The Actuarial Foundation and its Founding Partner, the SOA, and other corporate supporters. The STEM Stars Actuarial Scholars Program identifies, recruits and supports skilled high school students interested in the field. We believe we can finally move the needle by providing help that starts in high school, extends into college and continues through a career.
The new STEM Stars Actuarial Scholars Program offers high school seniors a scholarship of $20,000 ($5,000 annually for four years). Along with financial support, it includes mentoring, tutoring, immersion experiences and exposure to internships and job shadowing opportunities.
Curtis E. Huntington Memorial Scholarship Requirements
The following are the requirements an applicant must have in order to access Curtis E. Huntington Memorial Scholarship:
• An applicant must be enrolled as a full-time senior student at a U.S. accredited educational institution
• Applicant must have successfully completed at least one actuarial examination, have a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.0 (on 4.0 scale)
• An applicant must be nominated by a professor at their school. Each year, selected students receive a $3,000 scholarship award.
Scholarship Benefit
Amount: $3,000
The award will be divided to cover multiple semesters or other terms comprising the academic year. All scholarship awards are made payable to the U.S. accredited educational institution. Recipients attending school for a portion of the upcoming year (e.g., one semester) will receive the corresponding portion of a full year scholarship amount. Please note that a maximum of only 2 students per college will be accepted.
