Army and Air Force Scholarships
Army and Air Force ROTC scholarships help cover the cost of tuition, textbooks, lab fees, and a possible monthly stipend.

Enterprise Holdings Scholars Programs
Awarded on the basis of high academic achievements, strong leadership skills, bold character, and commitment to community service.

Dr. Thomas F. Frist, Jr. Scholarship
Two renewable half-tuition scholarships are offered to graduates of the Ensworth School every year.

Kessler Scholars Program
WashU has launched a Kessler Scholars Program to enroll and support up to 20 first-generation college and limited-income students each year who want to improve society using their STEM degrees.

Neilsen Scholarship Program
This program assists students who have sustained a spinal cord injury to pursue higher education and lead full lives in and out of the classroom.

Howard Nemerov Writing Scholars Program
Up to 10 $3,000 scholarships. Students must apply to the College of Arts & Sciences and submit a writing portfolio.

Eligibility Requirement for Washington University in St. Louis Scholarships

We are looking for students with a high school diploma or equivalent, including home-schooled students and students holding a GED, who took a challenging college-preparatory curriculum in high school complemented by extracurricular activities, community service, and work experience. Your senior-year transcript should show that you continue to take demanding courses. Most applicants take advantage of honors, advanced placement, and International Baccalaureate courses if offered by their high schools.

In general, most candidates’ transcripts include:

4 years of English
4 years of mathematics (architecture, business, and engineering strongly recommend calculus)
3-4 years of laboratory science (engineering recommends chemistry and physics)
3-4 years of history or social science
At least 2 years of the same foreign language since the ninth grade
The College of Arts & Sciences recommends both chemistry and physics for students who plan to do coursework in pre-medicine or the natural sciences.

Other important parts of your application:

Grades and class rank (if your school ranks students)
Counselor recommendation and one teacher evaluation.
Students who elect or are unable to provide SAT or ACT scores are encouraged to provide a teacher evaluation from a teacher in their area of academic interest who can address academic readiness in the area.
A 200-word response to the question “Please tell us what you are interested in studying at college and why.”
Extracurricular and community activities
The Common Application or Coalition Application essay
Optional – Standardized test scores.
Either SAT or ACT, writing is not required.
Test results from any of your high school years are acceptable.
We consider only the highest individual scores, whenever they occurred.
The last test date accepted will be the December testing (October if applying Early Decision I).
A portfolio is required for applicants to the College of Art. Portfolios are strongly encouraged for the College of Architecture.

How to Apply for Washington University in St. Louis Scholarships

To apply, use either the Common Application or Coalition Application. Both applications open on August 1 and must be completed by the appropriate application deadline.
Coalition Application
Students who apply via the Coalition Application, powered by Scoir, will complete their profile while logged in to their Scoir account. Upon submitting their profile, students will be taken into the WashU Pathway to complete the Washington University-specific questions. After submitting both parts of the application, students will be able to apply for our Signature Scholar Programs and the Howard Nemerov Writing Scholars Program via the WashU Pathway.
