The University of Sussex Climate Leaders Scholarship 2024-2025

The University of Sussex Climate Leaders Scholarship is calling for students who are into climate studies to apply for this year’s scholarship award to enable them for further studies. The article looks at the requirements an applicant must hold to be eligible for the scholarship. Sussex has an ambitious strategic goal, to be one of the most sustainable universities in the world and show global leadership in demonstrating and promoting all forms of environmental, social and economic sustainability at a local, regional, national and international level. As part of this commitment, Sussex is participating in the COP26 scholarships program and offering at least five £3,000 scholarships to new students in 2024. Successful applicants are also provided with mentoring support and invited to co-organize an annual event to engage and educate students and the wider community in tackling the climate crisis.

Application Requirements for The University of Sussex Climate Leaders Scholarship

To be eligible for this scholarship, applicants must:

  • be a UK student classified as ‘Home’ for fees and have accepted a place on an eligible Undergraduate, Masters or PhD
  • be able to demonstrate their personal track record of being an environmental influencer and bringing about real-world change in relation to the climate crisis
  • be able to commit to collaboration with the University and local community to encourage pledges to net zero and tackling the climate crisis
  • You are not eligible for this scholarship if you are going to study any of the following:
  1. Certificates and Diplomas (including PGCE)
  2. Courses at Brighton and Sussex Medical School (BSMS)
  3. Development Studies MA
  4. Early Years Education (with Early Years Teacher status)
  5. Globalization, Business and Development MA
  6. Governance, Development and Public Policy MA
  7. Power, Participation and Social Change MA
  8. Poverty and Development MA
  9. Degrees in Social work (if receiving an NHS bursary)
  10. Online courses
  11. Schools direct teaching courses
  12. Masters funded by the research councils (e.g., ESRC 1+3 funding)

How to Apply for The University of Sussex Climate Leaders Scholarship

This application is for eligible applicants to apply for the Climate Leaders Scholarship. Before applying, you must have received an offer of a place on an undergraduate Degree at Sussex and must meet the specific eligibility criteria to be considered for the scholarship.

Submit a scholarship application after receiving and accepting an offer of a place on a course at Sussex, applicants can be from any discipline. Applications will be assessed on evidence of climate leadership. Click Here to apply.
